Greetings,
Thought we would drop by and say hello!
We are a full-time roadschooling family. We are ending our first full year of life on the road. What a year it has been! We have had a new baby, experienced 2 hurricanes, and endured an amazingly hot summer... with all that being said, we wouldn't change a thing. We tell our kids that everything we experience becomes a fiber in the fabric of our lives; good or bad!

We have a 34' Airstream travel trailer, and a Ford Excursion (v10 gasser) as out equipment consist.

We plan a 4 year practicum expedition in the lower 48, followed by a year in Canada and Alaska. Then we are off to Europe via the Intercontinental Highway across Siberia and Russia.

We have read every post on these forums... We can confidently say, that this is an amazing new lifestyle. Any obstacle can be overcome. Giving birth on the road is something we never imagined, but what a great story to carry through life with you!

We learned that in order to be comfortable, less is more, which is part of our teaching philosophy and life model. If we left home without it and need it, we can always find one along the way! We want our children to live simply. We opt for simple toys, wooden blocks, lots of coloring and painting, and of course books.

Part of our cirriculum includes doing factory tours, and meeting people who know other people who can get us in places.... works very well!

We are spending our winter in south Florida to keep the Airstream out of the salt. As soon as the weather warms up, we'll spent a few months up north; Glacier NP, Yellowstone, Tetons, and Grand canyon are on the list for 2013. We are even entertaining the idea of work kamping along the way!

After all the miserable things going on in the world and especially schools, we feel very responsible for our children; this is perfect time to take it upon ourselves to educate them ourselves. There is always time later to go back to a brick and mortar life, but for now, this is awesome. We love living in our Airstream cocoon!

We would enjoy company, should anyone want to travel together, let us know! The more the merrier.

Look forward to new friendships, and meeting other nomads on the road!
Best wishes to all of you and travel safe!

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on your first year tour, haha! Sounds like it was quite a year to remember. I couldn't imagine giving birth on the road, although I have read about several families that have done it. Do you have a blog? Would love to read about your adventures! What are the ages of your kids? We have an 11, 8, and 18 month old.

Keep us updated, and safe travels!

Steph

Hello, and thanks for the welcome!
Like my signature says... If this was easy, everyone would be doing it!
Birth on the road was not something we EVER thought of in the past, but in this new life... whatever goes!

We do have a blog but it is horribly outdated. I need to switch hosts, and then I'll publish the new link!

Our kids are 6, 3 and 10 months

See you on the road
