RVing can be a wonderful experience for you and your family, whether it is for a weekend, an extended trip or even full-time. Travel and visiting new places provides a wealth of learning experiences, but before you go make sure you have the proper insurance coverage.
I would like to offer some suggestions about reshopping your insurance coverage. If you haven't compared rates for auto or RV insurance lately, you might want to give it a try. You may be able to lower your premiums if you look hard enough.
If you have been using the same insurer for a few years, it's time to reconsider your rates. Try an independent agent or even compare quotes at Aviva multi car and other popular insurance providers before you decide to switch. See if you can save by raising deductibles or going with state minimums. Another good reason to shop would be if you have a new teenage driver. A new adolescent driver increases a two-car family's auto-insurance bill by an average of 58% according to insurance.com.
Now in the UK and most other European countries, gender equalization regulations has taken effect resulting to new young drivers, especially women, having higher insurance policy prices than the past year. This doesn't necessarily have a direct effect on the US insurance industry, but it won't really hurt to ask about what factors are considered when you inquire about coverage prices, most especially if you have young adult drivers. Some insurers can charge a lot more for teenagers. That means when your teen starts to drive - it's time to shop around.
If your rates rise, especially if your policy is cancelled, shop around immediately. Prospective insurers will pull your record, but some care less than others about the incident. When the incident drops off your motor-vehicle record, ask your insurer to remove the surcharge and then reshop your policy.
I personally went through this process 3 months ago and was able to reshop my policy. As a full-timer you want to get the proper coverage to protect your possesions and your family. After reshopping I was able to switch from National Interstate to Geico and saved money. So no matter where you travel, have the proper insurance coverage for your vehicles and your family.
